mokie: Hannibal Lecter sits on his shiny blue couch (media pimping)
Minor obsession of the now: NBC's Hannibal.

Is the fact that Mads Mikkelson is playing the title character like 'a fallen angel' plugging into my thing for the devil/rebel angels on film? That's definitely there, and very well-done--not a hammy big bad baby-eating monster, but a subtle tempter and nudger and manipulator. I keep stepping back mentally and viewing the character as something not-quite-human.

Is it Hugh Dancy tripping all my 'sad hobbit' buttons as the never-not-disheveled Will Graham? Egads, there is so much of that. He's the saddest hobbit ever. Mission of doom, untrustworthy allies, co-workers waiting for him to snap, a mop of hair that's nothing but cowlicks...

At least Frodo had a Sam, that's all I'm saying.

Is it damn gorgeous cinematography? It's definitely HD done right. Logically I know that the juxtaposition of cannibal food porn and horror crime scenes should put me off dinner, but damned if Hannibal's table doesn't always make me think about raiding the fridge.

What I'm really getting at here is that you're so, so lucky this isn't Tumblr, and that I'm too lazy to upload and link images...

About dream/reading tags

y-* tags categorize dreams.

For types: beyond the obvious, there are dreamlets (very short dreams), stubs (fragment/outline of a partially-lost dream), gnatter (residual impression of a lost dream).

For characters: there are roles (characters fitting an archetype), symbols (characters as symbols), and sigils (recurring figures with a significance bigger than a single dream's role/symbolism).

x-* tags categorize books.

Material is categorized primarily by structure, style and setting. If searching for a particular genre, look for the defining features of that genre, e.g. x-form:nonfic:bio, x-style:horror, x-setting:dystopian.
