Between my cat dying, my finances suffering (glitchy email = no freelance work!), and the freakish heat, I've not talked much about the soap lately.

Of course, with the freakish heat, I'm lucky the soap didn't melt...

Anyhow, currently up for sale at Peculiar Treats:

  • Cantaloupe soap - "Though the summer sun dawdles on the horizon, fireflies and firecrackers alike have begun to step out for the evening. Grown-up bellies lounge in lawn chairs, full of iced tea and BBQ and beer. Little bellies run through the yard with sparklers alight, sloshing cantaloupe and popsicles and water from the hose, impatient for the dark, pretending not to hear."

  • Zombie-licious soap - "You thought you were safe. You barricaded the doors. You boarded up the windows. You checked the basement and the second floor, even the attic. You have enough canned goods to hold out three months, jugs of water, candles in case the power goes. But you didn't check the bathroom. Lavender essential oil is reputed to have both calming and antiseptic properties, to be useful in treatment of sunburns, and to be helpful as a mosquito repellent. For legal reasons, we make no guarantees of its usefulness against the undead."

  • Bitter Orange and Orchid - "They sat by the window and soaked in the sound of soft April rain, the taste of Grand Marnier, the slip of her pale silk dress, the scent of the orchids on her window sill. He asked if she'd ever read Chandler: 'Nasty things! Their flesh is too much like the flesh of men, and their perfume has the rotten sweetness of corruption.' She remembered why she had asked him to leave."

  • The Wedding Chest - "Tucked beneath the rafters at the back of the attic, behind the armoire that once held her great-grandmother's wedding dress, is an old cedar chest. A long-forgotten uncle brought it back from Marrakesh as a wedding present, to protect his forgotten lady's fine linens from insects and decay. It was to go to her older sister when she married, but Fate intervened. Well, Fate and the iron skillet. The cedar certainly does keep the insects away..."

    About dream/reading tags

    y-* tags categorize dreams.

For types: beyond the obvious, there are dreamlets (very short dreams), stubs (fragment/outline of a partially-lost dream), gnatter (residual impression of a lost dream).

For characters: there are roles (characters fitting an archetype), symbols (characters as symbols), and sigils (recurring figures with a significance bigger than a single dream's role/symbolism).

    x-* tags categorize books.

Material is categorized primarily by structure, style and setting. If searching for a particular genre, look for the defining features of that genre, e.g. x-form:nonfic:bio, x-style:horror, x-setting:dystopian.
