Holiday o' the day: Ernie's Birthday
Wednesday, 28 January 2015 12:00 pmOf course I'm going to celebrate Ernie's birthday.
As a child, I was always partial to Ernie. He was funny and clever without being mean (or at least, intentionally so). He was chubby and had hair that defied gravity. He could be oblivious to social niceties. He lived with and shared a bedroom with his best friend and everyone was OK with it, and that looked to a preteen queer kid exactly like it looked to adult viewers, regardless of any official denials from the Children's Television Workshop. I love the ever-loving heck out of Ernie.
Also, I had an uncle named Ernie, so there was that.
