Sunlight is the best disinfectant.

Bigwig politician claims he was totally unaware that the European-American Unity and Rights Organization was a white supremacist group. Yes! Totally unaware! Nevermind that the organization's name is basically 'white people unity', and that it's connected to David Duke, a Grand Wizard of the KKK who had run for governor of Louisiana in the '90s. Totally unaware!
David Duke: Pfft. So what? I've met with him a bunch of times, what's the big deal? His party had better get behind him, or I'll start naming names of all the politicians I'm friendly with.
The GOP is standing behind their man Scalise, but I hope Duke names names anyway, for both parties. Let's air out some closets.
So this is how 2014 ends. The racists aren't even pretending to hide anymore. And why should they? As far as they're concerned, the statistics say the public agrees with them, and if you don't, you're just stupid and/or naive.
And the public, full of But-I'm-not-a-racists, is struggling to reconcile their certain knowledge that they are not racists and don't have a problem with race, but. But why are those people still protesting? Why can't they just shut up and accept that the grand jury found no cause to indict in the death of Michael Brown, or Eric Garner, or Tamir Rice, or John Crawford, or... But why is anybody protesting the deaths of these men who must have done something to get killed? Why can't they accept that if they were doing nothing wrong, if they had been polite and respectful and obedient and law-abiding, they'd be alive today, so really they brought this on themselves. But why are they saying there's a problem in my community? I've never seen or experienced this, so they have to be making it up. But why are they bringing up statistics about race in relation to traffic stops and cop-related deaths and police violence and ignoring my statistics about white people who think there's nothing wrong and that these protesters need to go away already?
Done. Done. 2014, good riddance.
