You don't get sick days in your first year with my company, or if you're under a certain number of hours, so I'm going to need you to hand over the monetary equivalent of few days' pay to cover the bills, because I would like to not be homeless for the holidays, thanks.
Oh, and you'll need to talk to my boss while you're at it, because if you're sick two or more days running, you can't come back without a statement from a doctor, and my insurance through said employer doesn't kick in until the turn of the year (love how that works--I'm insured, but not really!), so obviously I'm not going near a doctor or hospital unless it's that or death.
