It's challenge time!

Comment with Just One Thing you've accomplished in the last 24 hours or so. It doesn't have to be a hard thing, or even a thing that you think is particularly awesome. Just a thing that you did.

Feel free to share more than one thing if you're feeling particularly accomplished!

Extra credit: find someone in the comments and give them props for what they achieved!

Nothing is too big, too small, too strange or too cryptic. And in case you'd rather do this in private, anonymous comments are screened. I will only unscreen if you ask me to.

The focus for action this week has been on yet another attempt to repeal Obamacare andon hurricane relief for Irma and Maria. (Let's take it as read that the Idiot-in-Chief has been spouting drivel about various topics and edging us towards nuclear war….)

How has your week been?

Housekeeping (the usual stuff)
Reminder that we have a suggestion post if there’s a topic that you’d like to see discussed but would like to ask the mods to look into. This can be anything from general information, or a how-to-do-a-thing, or something you may want to discuss as a community. Folks are welcome to post directly to the comm as always, but if you’re not comfortable/don’t have spoons, we can help too.

As we don't always get the time to pull things out of the suggestions post into their own separate posts, it may be worth checking every week (or tracking the post) to see if there's any new information you're interested in.

Also if you need help with tags, PM [personal profile] redbird, who is our tag guru. Both [personal profile] tassosss and I are very grateful for the help.

1) Beautiful fog when I woke up this morning, it looks really magical ^____^ What's even better, they predict a warm and sunny day after it has cleared.

2) Dinner at my parents' place. I look forward to their canopied swing.

3) Early night in since I put on fresh bedlinen <3

Shiv beat the liquid ingredients into the dry in staccato sweeps. The tendons atop his knuckles stood taut as he gripped the bowl, but Heron left him to it, only clearing his throat when the sticky dough pulled away from the sides of the bowl in a lump. “Great, that's a fantastically useful skill,” Heron began. He nodded toward the oven. “If there's foil up here, I can make a baking sheet and grease it while you either finish mixing my batch on the table, or show you how to knead yours. It's really just a minute away from getting marked and popped in the oven.”

“I like working for Boss White,” Shiv hissed.

1) Had a long hot shower this morning.

2) I'm going to the park this afternoon for a drink, taking a happy book with me.

3) I'm getting the groceries afterwards when I can no longer enjoy the sunshine.

Heron paused, thinking back. “There were some slip-ups in the first five or six batches, but if you're good with your hands, it's easier than using a wooden spoon for mixing.” His lips quirked up again. “It also looks impressive to people who don't know how to do it.”

Shiv stepped away from the table. “I should get a bowl. Does it have to be one of those mixing bowls?”

“No, just anything big enough to hold the dough. For batches this size, a cereal bowl would work, or a plastic container the same size,” the older man assured. “Oh, set the oven to four hundred degrees, so it can be nice and ready for the loaves. I'll pop them in as we finish mixing each batch, since working quickly keeps the oven hot.”

“So, this is really…” Shiv trailed off, shaking his head. “How do you know it's cheaper than buying the box mix?”

I'm exhausted which may explain why I've been sitting staring at the latest XKCD in disbelief and delight for a good ten minutes.

[personal profile] battlehamster has gone to a Larp this weekend, leaving Kheldar in charge of the house. It's probably good timing because I had to work late today and I'll have to go back into work on Sunday. As long as the building security guys remember to call me that is. If they don't then I'll have go in at Far Too Early O'Clock on Monday instead. There's some power work being done on the building so everything had to be switched off and unplugged before I left the office this evening - coffee machines, classroom kit, the entire server rack, eeeeverything.

I'm going to spend the rest of the weekend fretting until they call me and tell that the sparkies have finished and I can go and power everything back up again. We have a course starting on Monday that can't run without internet access so I'm really hoping that all the ISP and Corp team kit boots back up okay. On the plus side most of what's in the rack is less than a year old so shouldn't have died from shock just because it's been shut down.

Crazy days

It's been a busy few weeks. First a week in the Great Nation of Syden (Gran Canaria Province), which was SUPER BUSY with the lying on a sun bed reading fanfic on Ye Olde Kindle. No really, that and apply sunblock's all I did. Then back to madhouse at work, because summer is over and everything has to happen Right Now! Plus business trips to Oslo (week after Syden) and Portugal (last week), whee!

And today! Today, my friend and I fly to London where we will shop @ Oxford Street, eat in Chinatown, meet up with [personal profile] incandescens and see Tom Hiddleston be a whiny little shit who believes in ghosts and making sure that if he is miserable EVERYONE must be miserable (aka Hamlet)! I CANNAE WAIT! This will be awesome! Especially meeting [personal profile] incandescens again after....how long? A decade?

WHEEEEE!!!!

1) Listening to good music while cycling to work. Also, having fun listening in on an discussion between to older men wether or not one is allowed to cycle through the red light when one knows it's going to be green within a couple of seconds (read: when the light for the cars turns orange).

2) It's Friday! That means working 'till 12h30. Quickly going to do grocery shopping and after that I'm going to crash in my couch and watch a movie or sleep a little.

3) Going out for dinner with friends in our favorite resto in Brussels.

About dream/reading tags

y-* tags categorize dreams.

For types: beyond the obvious, there are dreamlets (very short dreams), stubs (fragment/outline of a partially-lost dream), gnatter (residual impression of a lost dream).

For characters: there are roles (characters fitting an archetype), symbols (characters as symbols), and sigils (recurring figures with a significance bigger than a single dream's role/symbolism).

x-* tags categorize books.

Material is categorized primarily by structure, style and setting. If searching for a particular genre, look for the defining features of that genre, e.g. x-form:nonfic:bio, x-style:horror, x-setting:dystopian.
